Front Hall

Before: The front hall had a bay window and door in front, access from the side.

I designed and built the staircase in high school using simple geometry to figure out the angle and measurements of each staircase piece and the landing. Who says you don’t use math in real life?

For the remodel, I wanted cleaner lines and some “through the door” illusions. So I put in a false wall with a door leading to a closet and “basement stairs.”

I used the same color scheme in foyer and music room beyond to pull it all together.

The front bay window and window treatments in place.

New front door: I replaced the old, standard solid panel door with a full-window “shop” door to let more light out and increase viewer access.

Fabulous use of color and light; the wall with fake door is so realistic!
