Over the last few days I put together a scene I’d been thinking about for a while. The mom of a high school girlfriend had a plaque hanging in her kitchen that said “This Mess is a Place.” That always tickled me.
Most of this I had sitting around my supply boxes–I purchased the cat, cat bowl, and cat towel holder from Mainly Minis. The sink I’d bought some time ago and the dishes, chair, wallpaper, dog, tile floor, etc. were in my cabinets. The sink didn’t have a drain pipe, so I made one out of two bendy straws covered with gesso and silver paint. I had fun grunging things up!
Will post everything on my website when I get the chance.
Printies in many scales. Wallpaper, books, tablecloths, labels, rugs, fabric patterns, and many, many accessories
Printies (My Small Obsession)
All kinds of links to sites with all kinds of printies (all scales)–wallpaper, flooring, boxes, plates, books, etc etc etc
Wendy's Minis (Pillows galore!)
The beautiful, handcrafted pillows in my collection come from Wendy Smale. In addition to pillows, she offers crystals, minerals, shells, and “scientific collections” for the dollhouse.
Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls, and Toys
Lovely museum in a historic house (house is worth the visit, even if you’re not interested in minis). The collection ranges from antiques to modern artisans. Note the extensive tiny circus! The trip through narrow streets of historic Denver is worth it.
Mini Time Machine Museum, Tucson, AZ
Must be seen to be believed. A huge collection of dollhouses and miniature settings made by prominent artisans, as well as a solid collection of antiques, in a beautiful building designed around the collection. All I can say is… Just Go!
