Cotswold Cottage–Living Room

The living room is a little more formal than the rest of the house, but still cozy. The French doors lead out to the patio.

I made every brick in this fireplace from pieces of stripwood, painted, cut to size, laid on a fireplace box (made from 1/16″ thick illustration board by me), and finished and aged. Again, it matches the chimney outside.

I cross-stitched this rug from a pattern in a long-ago issue of Nutshell News. Open door leads to the kitchen.

More of the realistic detail of the house–here is the start of the staircase that rises between the living room and kitchen walls to come out in the upstairs hall. The window you see on the outside to the right of the big bedroom window looks into this stairwell.

The “mortar” between the bricks is made of wood strips. I think they are 1/8″ square, painted, then cut.

The detail from the fireplace bricks looks amazing! What did you use to give the cement look in between bricks?
