This box was a complete redesign of one of the first room boxes I ever made. It was a bedroom with kit furniture, but I ripped it apart and made it into an imaginary game room with a playing card theme.
The false walls are matboard covered with mulberry paper. The floor is mattboard painted to resemble marble tile.
I made the card table from scratch. The top is a piece of art paper from an artist supply store (I love paper).
The card game being played at the table is piquet, popular in the eighteenth century. Piquet is for two people and uses only the cards seven through King plus Ace. I sorted out all the cards and set up a “real” game in progress.
The Queen Anne side chair was a cheap unfinished chair I bought at Auntie Em’s and painted. I needlepointed the cushion from a kit by Annelle Ferguson. Her kits have lots of detail without a lot of work.
I updated the room not long ago to add
1) The backgammon table I’d made and
2) some things I’d purchased that I thought went well with the room.
