Front Hall

Before: The front hall had a bay window and door in front, access from the side.

I designed and built the staircase in high school using simple geometry to figure out the angle and measurements of each staircase piece and the landing. Who says you don’t use math in real life?

For the remodel, I wanted cleaner lines and some “through the door” illusions. So I put in a false wall with a door leading to a closet and “basement stairs.”

Unlike you I started late in life…, I remember when I was a little girl, my mom was very frugal and wouldn’t buy me anything ‘extra’, let alone a dollhouse.., I remember getting a Barbie once, and a box of 64 crayons this after being good the entire year and not getting in trouble…, good grades, my mom totally believed in Christmas gifts is for only good girls/perfect all year…, so now I have gotten carried away…, but it seems you had a natural talent from the very beginning…, I love miniatures, because it takes you back to a time where you were in control and little and anything was possible. Fabulous use of color and light; the wall with fake door is so realistic!
